Established in 2006 by Lester Jessop, Prime Excavating, Inc. began as a close-knit, family-focused business and has since grown into a well-respected name in the civil construction industry. Licensed, insured, and bonded in Utah and Idaho, the company operates under USDOT Number 2051486 and brings decades of hands-on experience to every project. Lester’s foundation in excavation was built early, working alongside his father and learning the trade from the ground up. That early exposure shaped the strong work ethic and practical knowledge that continue to define the company today.
Lester later reconnected professionally with longtime friend John Steed, whom he had previously worked with in the excavating industry. In 2008, John joined Prime Excavating, and the two began building the company together, combining leadership, field expertise, and a shared commitment to quality. Their partnership has played a key role in expanding Prime Excavating into a dependable contractor known for consistency, accountability, and high standards across every job site.
